Android: How to Change Default Screenshots Folder, Save Them Directly to SD Card?

There’s no built-in setting on Android to change the screenshots save location and to save them directly to your phone’s SD / microSD card, for instance. But, you can use a third-party app called Auto File Transfer to save the screenshots as you take them to folders other than the default, including to the SD card.

Here’s how to do that.

  • Using the search bar in the Google Play Store app, find the Auto File Transfer app and install it.
  • Open the Auto File Transfer app and tap on the Add New Task button.
  • Name your task in the first Name field.
  • In the Source Folder field, select the current default Screenshot folder where you screenshots are normally saved. Its usual location on an Android phone is Pictures / Screenshots.
  • In the Destination Folder field, select your SD card or other location where you want to save the sceenshots you take. You can create a new folder named Screenshots on your SD card and selcect that folder as the Destination Folder. To create a new folder using the Auto File Transfer app, tap the Folder icon in the upper right corner of the Destination Folder screen.
  • Save the Auto File Transfer task you created using the Save icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

From now on, all your screenshots you take will be saved to the new location you selected. Keep in mind that this procedure will also move all of your existing screenshots from the old to the new location. The Auto File Transfer app also gives you a copy transfer mode option to save the screenshots in both old and new location at the same time.
