You can stop receiving Instagram’s email notifications by:
- changing settings in the Instagram app,
- changing settings on instagram.com website or
- unsubscribing in emails you received from Instagram.
Change Email Settings within Instagram App
In the Instagram app on your Andorid phone or iPhone go to Settings / Notifications / Email notifications.
Where are Settings in Instagram App?
Settings in the Instagram app, including those about notifications, can be accessed by entering the Instagram profile via the profile icon in the lower right corner on the screen, then tapping on the three horizontal lines “hamburger” icon in the upper right corner, and selecting the Settings item on the menu that pops up.
On the Settings / Notifications / Email notifications screen, you can enable or disable email notifications that can be related to activity on your Instagram account (reminder emails about missed notifications) or related to the app itself (app feedback, tools, news, or support).
The procedure for enabling and disabling Instagram emails in the app is basically the same on Android phones and iPhones. The only difference is the layout of options on the Instagram app / Settings / Notifications / Email notifications screen.
Change Email Settings on Instagram.com Website
You can also change the same Instagram email settings on the instagram.com website. To do that, go to https://www.instagram.com/emails/settings/ using a web browser. Fill in the log-in form if you aren’t already logged in and change the email settings to your liking. If you have multiple Instagram accounts, make sure you have logged into the account you want to change the settings for.
Stop Instagram Emails by Unsubscribing within Email
Near the end of emails you receive from Instagram, there should be an Unsubscribe link. The link is usually in the footer of the email, which is presented in a smaller font than the main body of the email. By simply tapping on the Unsubscribe link, you can unsubscribe and stop receiving Instagram emails in the future.
I have, however, noticed that the “New login to Instagram…” security emails don’t have the unsubscribe link on the bottom. These emails seem to be mandatory. They provide important security information about new logins from different devices, so they can let you know if someone else has access to your account from their device.
