Historically, Minecraft was much more popular than Roblox, but in the last couple of years Roblox has seriously narrowed the gap, according to the number of searches for the two games on Google Search and YouTube.
Here are visual clues about how do Roblox and Minecraft historically compare in terms of popularity among searches on Google and the company’s video platform, based on the Google Trends data.
The Google Search chart shows that during some periods starting from 2021, Roblox even had an advantage over the Minecraft.
That’s however not the case with the number of YouTube searches.
Please keep in mind that the number of Roblox and Minecraft searches on Google and YouTube doesn’t necessarily reflect the real numbers of players, such as numbers of active monthly users. This is especially true if you take into consideration that various sources claim Roblox currently has noticeably more active users than Minecraft.
But, the charts can be good indicators of the direction the popularity trends go.
