Can You Disable “Recently Added to Their Stories” Instagram Notifications?

No, there’s no way to disable Instagram’s “….recently added to their stories” notifications, other than disabling all Instagram notifications.

There’s no option within the Instagram app or in settings of Android phones and iPhones to specifically prevent these notifications. Instagram does have a Post, Stories, and Comments page in the app settings. But, it doesn’t have an option related to disabling or enabling the “…recently added to their stories” or “…recently added to their story” notifications.

What you can do is to completely block all Instagram notifications in Android and iPhone settings or in the app. But, by doing so, you will also disable notifications that might be important to you, such as those about new likes and followers.

Disable “Recently Added to Their Stories” and All Other Instagram Notifications on Android

To disable all Instagram notifications including the “…recently added to their stories” on Android phones, go to Settings and search for “Instagram” to find the Instagram App info section. On the Instagram App info screen tap on Notifications and toggle the All Instagram notifications switch off.

Disable “Recently Added to Their Stories” and All Other Instagram Notifications on iPhone

To disable all Instagram notifications, including the “…recently added to their stories” on iPhones, go to Settings and search for “Instagram” to find the Instagram settings section. In the Instagram settings section, tap on the Notifications options and toggle the Allow Notifications switch off.

Disable “Recently Added to Their Stories” and All Other Instagram Notifications in App

Within the Instagram app, you can disable or better said pause notifications, but only up to 8 hours. After the set period of time, all Instagram notifications, including the “Recently Added to Their Stories” ones, will resume to appear in your notification lists.

If you still want to disable the notifications within the Instagram app instead of within Android or iPhone settings, you can do it in Instagram’s Settings / Notifications / Pause All.

Within Instagram App info settings on Android, I have also experimented with disabling notifications under the Other section. I wasn’t able to find info about what notifications fall under Other, but it certainly doesn’t block the “…recently added to their stories” notifications, since they continued to arrive after disabling the Other switch.
